Delivering online available video to a large range of user devices continues to be a challenge for content providers. Unfortunately there is no uniform common denominator set of video files that can be played out by all devices. The device ecosystem is changing continuously and therefore broadcasters need to test new encoding combinations with delivery formats. Dynamic Adaptive Streaming using HTTP (DASH) addresses these issues by defining a universal delivery format that provides end users with the best possible video experience by dynamically adapting to changing network conditions.
EBU Project Group on DASH Test Engine for Encoding
The topic of DASH Test Engine for Encoding was part of the EBU's Strategic Programme on Broadcaster Internet Services.
Main activities:
- Provides Members with a test platform that can be used as a 'reference software workflow' for creating different audio/video formats in the contribution/distribution production chain using open source software.
- Provides an opportunitiy for you to create your own tests or benefit from the tests of others.
- Facilitates discussion around suitable MPEG-DASH content generation (including encoding and packaging settings) for different use cases.
