This year’s BroadThinking event will take a closer look at the current status and future possibilities of HbbTV. Presentations will give a practical overview of current implementation experiences from the service deployment and end user perspectives. The event will also look in more detail at HbbTV 2.0, since its recent release.
The programme will include a number of hot topics, such as: an introduction to the new technologies by Jon Piesing, TPVision; a closer look at the current market from Peter Mac Avock, EBU; broadcast signalling in detail and migration paths for interactive TV from Klaus Merkel, IRT; and a CE manufacturer’s position from Simon Waller, Samsung.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about user interfaces and interactions. The usability of HbbTV will be analysed as well as companion screens and access services. Presentations on specific applications will also be showcased.
As MPEG-DASH is responsible for the delivery of video, a full session is organized by key stakeholders: Jeff Goldberg from Cisco, Thomas Stockhammer from Qualcomm and Iraj Sodegar from Microsoft.
Members of the EBU will share their experience with specific services and deployments in different countries: BBC, SRG-SSR, CT, IRT, RAI, ARD, RBB, and RTVE.
Hands-on demonstrations, including those on specific technologies, conformance testing and country services will also take place during the event.
