This talk highlights why quantum technologies are relevant for telecommunications and media. It describes quantum imaging, sensing and timing before addressing quantum computing and quantum communications in more depth. The presentation also covers the work British Telecom has been doing, including various trials of Quantum Key Distribution, an ultra secure method of encrypting optical transmission links. Finally, the talk considers the future and the so-called 'quantum internet'.
