Goodbye 2010

2010 has been a very busy year as far as it concerns media technology developments. In the past 12 months the EBU TECHNICAL team together with the EBU Members and other media professionals, have addressed many of those developments.

Over 50 events

To give some figures: in 2010 we have organised over 50 events, including Seminars, Webinars, Workshops, and Master Classes. Besides direclty benefiting the participants, these also have generated several hundreds of presentations, available to all EBU Members in our publications library. There have been many meetings of focussed EBU Project Groups, Expert Communities and Strategic Programme Groups. Many of these meetings now take place 'virtually', using online facilities to maximise efficiency. And in 2010 more than 50 official EBU publications were released, including Recommendations, Specifications, Strategy Reports and Technical Review articles. All this technical work is guided by the EBU Technical Committee.

The coming year will no doubt be at least as busy. There are many key topics on the agenda, ranging from HBB to Loudness and from MXF to Quality Control, to name a few. For the first two months in the new year, the following events are already planned:

28-29  January   3D TV Master Class
1-3  February   Production Technology Seminar 2011
16  February   Digital Radio Summit 2011
 23  February   Loudness Workshop
24-25  February   Digital Media Asset Management Master Class

We will announce our 2011 Webinars schedule in January.
