The EBU is holding a Hybrid TV Standard workshop today at the Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT), in Munich, to address Members' question on how to launch attractive Hybrid TV services swiftly and smoothly.
How to best launch hybrid TV services
Day one of the two-day workshop examined how to ensure a successful roll out of hybrid services, from infrastructure and personnel requirements to analysing the impact, market penetration and potential risks of this exciting opportunity.
Tuesday will be split into three sessions examining the importance of content in determining hybrid TV's success; the pros and cons of the various platforms being supported by EBU members and initiatives for a European launch of hybrid TV services.
The workshop was chaired by Andreas Weiss (ARD) and Peter MacAvock (EBU). It is part of the EBU's drive to facilitate and harmonize the introduction of hybrid broadcasting by its Members.
