The first EBU TECHNICAL Webinar for its Members was an overwhelming success. Although not widely advertised more than 50 Member representatives joined the session to learn the latest on EBU's HDTV work.
Next webinar: SOA
The next two Webinars are open for registration now as well. The first will take place on Friday 21 November at 15:00 hrs (CET). This Webinar will be hosted by EBU's Jean-Pierre Evain. He will explain what Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) are and how they may benefit broadcasters.
EBU's work on SOA has started earlier this year and of course includes a strong focus on standardisation and compliance. The promise of SOA providing a vendor-neutral next-generation production platform is strong, but there are still many points to address regarding 'SOA for broadcasters'. See the SOA Webinar announcement page if you want to join this Webinar.
Telecom Package
On 15 December Elena Puigrefagut (EBU) will update the Membership on the latest developments related to the European Telecom Package directives. The Webinar is well-timed as the European Council of Telecom Ministers will have voted on this topic two weeks before the event.
The Telecom Package Webinar is especially suited for engineers / technical managers who do not have a legal background and wish to learn about the directives in 'plain English'. Of course the Digital Dividend discussions will be included as well. Go here for more details and to register.

If you missed the HDTV Webinar, you can find it in the EBU TECHNICAL Publications Library .
