EBU shares Digital MAM expertise and tools in Master Class

A well thought-through Digital Media Asset Management (DMAM) is a key ingredient to be able to run an efficient,  multiplatform 'content factory'. Most broadcasters are well aware of this, but do not necessarily have all the answers on how to set up their own DMAM infrastructure. The EBU is organising a Master Class for its Members who need to learn and understand how to tackle this matter.

Choices...

Defining your DMAM strategy means making choices. Far from being only an operational of technical issue, it is first and foremost a business issue. What do I want to achieve with my DMAM solution? Do I go for a data-centric approach or do I prefer an asset-centric one? What impact will it have on my staff and the workflows they are used to? Will I go for a customized or an "off-the shelf" product? What formats will I use for files, compression and metadata? What technical basis will my DMAM run on?

It is these type of questions that the trainers in this EBU Master Class will aim to answer. And they have a good background to do so. Brendan Mallon is currently BBC Technology Development Manager at BBC Scotland. He has almost 30 years of experience in the organisation and was involved in many innovative technical projects, including the Pacific Quay project and the BBC's current Digital Media Initiative.

Jean-Noël Gouyet has a good understanding of the situation from one of the largest media organisations on the other side of the channel, the French audio-visual archives (INA). He will explain what DMAM choices INA has faced and what answers they have come up with.
