The use of Digital Single-Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras for professional HD acquisition applications is increasing. To get a better understanding of the practical use of DSLRs in broadcasting, EBU TECHNCIAL is organising a DSLR Summer Shoot.
Controversial, but reality
The use of DSLR cameras as a cost-effective means of acquiring professional HD video footage is a fact, but not favoured by everybody. All sorts of opinions on the performance and limitations, application areas and best usage of DSLRs have been raised. However, without touching the cameras ‘hands-on’, it is difficult to judge the value of those opinions.
At the EBU Production Technology Seminar in January 2010 Members showed an interest in a hands-on approach. EBU TECHNICAL is now organising a two-day DSLR shooting event in Geneva to provide an understanding of where in the professional video field DSLRs can best be used.
Packed programme
The EBU DSLR Summer Shoot will take place on 14 and 15 July at the EBU in Geneva and Yvoire (France) and includes two daytime shoots and one evening shoot. A Group of 20 participants will perform their own shooting and editing and together will evaluate the results. Special emphasis is placed on tips & tricks and workflow aspects. Seasoned broadcast cameraman Tom Poederbach will share his experiences and guide the Group throughout the two days.
Registration
