EBU DSLR Camera Summer Shoot opens to non-Members

On 14-15 July 2010 the EBU organises a hands-on shoot with DSLR cameras to evaluate the use of these devices for HD broadcasting applications. Due to several last-minute cancellations and as several non-Members have shown an interest, the last seats now also are available to cameramen and video-journalists working for EBU  organisations which do not belong to the EBU.

Cameras provided

Canon is kindly providing 20 EOS 1d Mark IV, EOS 5D Mark II and ESO 7D cameras for use during the shoot. The recordings will be made in the vicinity of the EBU in Geneva and (for low-light shots) in the neighbouring town of Yvoire (France). After shooting, each participant will edit his/her material in Apple Final Cut Pro. The use of various accessoires from handySLR, Vocas and Zacuto will also be addressed.

Goal

The main purpose of this two-day event is to get a better understanding of and (literally!) feeling for the use of DSLR cameras as a cost-effective means of acquiring professional HD video footage. Several broadcasters have already used DSLRs for some of their programmes, but for many it is unclear where to (not) use DSLRs.
