New wireless technologies are increasingly used in content productions as they enable innovative workflows, more flexibility and creative freedom.
This workshop will bring together EBU members, industry partners, and regulators, to explore the latest developments in private 5G for professional media production, with strong focus on hands on collaboration and real-work use cases. The objective of the workshop is also to contribute to a joint industry alignment and support to the implementation of ECC regulation for the frequency band 3.8-4.2 GHz (N77) for local networks, with the EU Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/2425 coming into effect on the 30th September 2026.
The workshop is hands-on:
- Live demonstrations of 5G in media production
- Case studies on private 5G deployments and production workflows
- Practical exploration of 5G network slicing and mmWave
- Interactive group work on real production cases
and is intended for the production professionals that may not yet have a lot of experience with these technologies. With the equipment available on-site the participants will be able to try them out in a realistic production situation and get a feel for the new possibilities and the limitations.
There will also be an opportunity for networking, sharing experiences, and discussion with wireless production experts.
The workshop is organised by the EBU expert group on Programme Making and Special Events (PMSE) and hosted by TV2 Denmark at their premises in Copenhagen, Teglholmen.
