Enabling Remote Journalism

The COVID-19 crisis has forced many journalists to work remotely. This has posed some critical questions about how to support such work in terms of infrastructure, services, tools and responsibilities.

Sharing practices

In this informal, one-hour roundtable call EBU Members shared ideas, experiences, questions, etc.

- How to protect the corporate infrastructure (servers, VPN, etc...)?
- How to provide easy tools to the stranded journalists / editors at home with limited resources?
- Which workflows to use with the different cloud providers?

Members for Members

This call was one of several activities to help EBU Members deal with challenges resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. Other resources include:
- Weekly Technical Liaison Officers (TLO) calls to share the latest news on technical issues;
- Dedicated Slack channels to discuss/share technical advice with EBU Member peers 24/7;
- A collection of advice from EBU Members on several topics, beyond technical aspects (e.g. programming, communication)
