The purpose of this article is to raise awareness of Semantic Web technologies and on-going convergent developments between broadcasting and the Internet, i.e. in the W3C, the EBU, TV-Anytime and IPTC. It provides an overview of the genesis of the Semantic Web and its evolution towards Linked Data.
