The EBU is pleased to host for the third time the SMPTE Engineering meetings at its headquarters in Geneva. The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) was founded in 1916 to advance theory and development in the motion imaging field.

Globally-respected standards body
SMPTE is an accredited and globally-respected industry standards-setting body. EBU TECHNICAL, as a Member of SMPTE, is working very closely with the SMPTE on new technologies and standards developments in the field of professional broadcast technologies. Roughly 70 participants attended the opening of this SMPTE engineering week , 17 - 20 September 2008. Hot topis for this meeting include:
