Reaching the summit - a busy week for the radio community

Today’s Digital Radio Summit marked the high point of a successful EBU Radio Week, a series of events, meetings and activities bringing together key stakeholders from the radio community in Europe and beyond. Radio standards bodies includeing WorldDMB, DRM and RadioDNS held meetings at the EBU during the week and the RadioHack workshops provide an opportunity for developers to ‘get their hands dirty’ by digging into the code.

More than 100 delegates attended the Digital Radio Summit, with the highlights including a lively debate on the future direction of digital radio – both broadcast and broadband are key it seems – and insights from some of the ‘late bloomers’ in digital radio (Germany, Netherlands, France, and some community radio stations). EBU Members can access the presentations from the event online now.

Earlier in the week, the RadioHack workshops provided a forum in which developers, engineers and integrators could explore some of the very latest technologies in software-defined radio, RadioDNS, Android apps, etc. This short video provides an idea of what went on.
