Do you know which file formats and streams you want to use in your facility? Do you have a clear picture of how to integrate the various IT-based production systems? If you do, but also if you don't , you may be interested to join the new EBU Group on IT-based technology.
| Away from proprietary lock-in
A key issue in designing new facilities is to make sure the system is flexbile enough to allow it to be easily adaptable for new purposes, without being blocked by vendor-specific technology. Preventing vendor lock-in has always been an EBU priority, but it is especially important now broadcasters are migrating to completely IT-based infrastructures.
Broadcasters clearly foresee that strategic technology changes are required to allow more flexibility in workflows and cost leveraging. The EBU believes that the use of IP-based 'Service Oriented Architectures' or similar design concepts, offers the potential for greatly improved interoperability over current (often proprietary interfaces based) system design practices. |
