Last week, there were back to back sessions of a workshop on ways broadcasters should structure themselves for the new age of Internet, followed by the EBU General Assembly. President-elect Mr Philipot (see picture) took an active part in both.
360 degree production
In the workshop, members analysed what internal company organisation would be needed to cope with the provision of television, radio, and broadband services. A number of members have already converted themselves to produce programme for all three media, sometimes as a collective whole ('360 degree production'). Technical work
At the EBU General Assembly, the EBU Director General reported on the work of the EBU Technical Committee and EBU TECHNICAL. These included the demonstrations of 'UHDTV' given at the IBC in September 2008, the new work programme for broadband, and the successful definition of a common set of digital radio profiles for Europe.
