The EBU has published two new metadata set specifications. These specifications are part of a series to be used with applications, which use, profile and possibly extend the EBU P_META Semantic Metadata Schema EBU Tech 3295v2.
Exchange metadata
The first, EBU Tech 3331, is a Metadata Exchange Set, defined to support the exchange of information when searching for content, which can only be done if a common format has been agreed for interoperability purposes. A transaction is engaged by stating a request for content, which is followed by a reply detailing available content responding to the request.
Music reporting metadata
The second, EBU Tech 3332, the Music Reporting Set is intended for use by broadcasters who need to unambiguously report their use of music (live or recorded) and other recorded material (e.g. speech, drama) to the appropriate rights bodies.
Both specifications result from the EBU TECHNICAL Group on metadata, P/MAG. For more information on its work, please contact: Jean-Pierre Evain (EBU).
