EBU-DRM Conference presentations public

The chair of the Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Consortium, Ms Ruxandra Obreja, expressed her satisfaction at the EBU-DRM Conference held last week. She said: "I am delighted that this was an interactive event able to demonstrate the great potential and benefits of DRM. From the feedback received the interesting presentations and discussions have impressed the participants."

Technology & business

The Conference was organised to show the recent developments in DRM technology, the standardisation of DRM+ and the publication of DRM Receiver Profiles. It addressed the market potential of the DRM system and evaluated the results from its tests from various locations worldwide. There also was a discussion on different business cases and real achievements in getting DRM receivers on the market. DRM/DRM+is a necessary complement to the DAB family of system (DAB/DAB+/T-DMB) for example when a non-multiplex approach is needed or when a large scale coverage must be achieved with fewer transmitters. DRM/DRM+ comes in the set of standards for digital radio in Europe.

Presentations available

80 delegates from all over the world attended the Conference, including representatives from Chile and Australia. Besides presentations, live demonstrations of DRM technology were provided. To share the Conference information amongst the widest possible audience, all presentations (including the audio recordings) are available publicly via the EBU TECHNICAL website.
