EBU TECHNICAL launches a new Group for broadcasters to share best practices on integrating archives in production environments. Sharing experiences also took place at the FKTG Symposium on Archives, which is being held in Bregenz this week.
New EBU Group chaired by TVP
The new EBU Group P/DATA (Digital Archives Technology Advice) will focus on the integration of archives in production environments. The Group has three main tasks:
1. To gather and share broadcaster experiences in this area.
2. To develop a concise list of user requirements.
3. To identify specific integration issues.

| HD Ready?
The second 'kick-off' related to archives took place yesterday, at the FKTG Symposium dedicated to archives. For this 8th edition of the annual scientific event, the core theme is: "Future television archives - are you HD Ready?'. Over 100 representatives of broadcasters and industry are discussing the future of television archives, in particular with regard to the introduction of HDTV. The symposium is held at the Festival House in Bregenz (Austria).
Hans Hoffmann represents EBU TECHNICAL at the event. He kicked off the Symposium with a keynote on the 'Future of Television Archives'. Several well known EBU Members such as the Hessische Rundfunk, the IRT (ARD/ZDF/SRG/ORF) and the ORF are contributing as well. | Hans Hoffmann (EBU) |
