Preserve, protect, and profit at the EBU Archives Workshop

Moving archives to a file-based environment in an efficient, quality-preserving way is a challenge for many broadcasters. Legacy format issues, the sheer size of the archives and financial limitations ask for ingenuity and the sharing of best practice.

The EBU is addressing various aspects of the archiving challenge in a special partnership programme and its strategic programmes on Integrated Production and Quality Control.

The Workshop is not only about technology, and will also address how Archives and be valorized and can be used to fill the content gap for broadcasters.

On 28-29 October 2014, a group of broadcasters and vendors will share their experiences during a 2-day (free*) Archives Workshop at the EBU in Geneva. The event includes key lessons learned in various parts of Europe, product demonstrations from vendors, and enough room to discuss the more difficult issues and how the EBU may be able to help more.

*The Archives Workshop is free for EBU Members. Non-Members pay a modest fee of 100 CHF (including 2x lunch).
