David Kirby, for many years an active participant in EBU activities, including the former EBU Production Technology Management Committee sadly died aged 54 after battling leukaemia for over a year.
| Awards and recognition
He won many awards for the development of tools used in programme production, and was always known for being loyal and supportive, calm and fair.
Apart from the BBC and EBU, he also worked in the World Wide Web Consortium W3C, and he would surely be proud to find in the recent W3C TTML specification (Timed Text Markup Language (TTML) 1.0) that "The Working Group dedicates this specification to our colleague David Kirby."
He left his mark on the media and will be greatly missed. | |
