Television expert Alan Roberts has written a new book on (HD)TV, aiming to demystify its background and use. The book is called 'Circles of Confusion' and will be available for purchase, exclusively, via the EBU.
How, how how?
The subtitle of the book is, reassuringly enough, ‘'Television, especially HDTV: how it works; how it came to work this way and how to get the best out of it". This book will lead you though the theories of how television works, and how those theories can be used to make the most of the improving technology.

Television is all about colour science, which is a part of psychophysics, the mathematical analysis of how we see things. Whilst you don’t need to understand colour science to make good television, you might make better television if you do. You’d understand some of the instincts of the programme-maker, for example.
