CES '11 - The Smart(er) Show!

CES '11 opens today. With a predicted 162,000 delegates, it remains the largest trade-only show in the world, and it's nuts! Drawing the key industry players, CES '11 saw major announcements - Windows 8 will run on ARM architectures; and various forms of Smart TV. TCL (who own the Thomson brand) have launched a gesture-based TV which they call "SmartTV" and LG's major push at CES is for their ConnectedTV solution also called "SmartTV". Confusingly Samsung is also pushing Smart TV. On a lighter note, Reese's launched their Mini Peanut Butter Cups at CES '11.

Walking the halls, there doesn't appear to be the major new technologies that were present in past years, but, for example, all the majors are showing glassless 3D displays. If CES '09 was the "green show" and CES '10 was the "3D show", then CES '11 has to be the "Connected Show".
