Dynamic Media Facilities project heads for next milestone with JT-DMF meeting in New York

The Joint Task Force on Dynamic Media Facilities (JT-DMF) of the EBU and AMWA will convene its next in-person session on 10-11 March 2026 in New York, bringing together broadcasters, technology vendors, system integrators and media technologists to review ongoing work and advance industry collaboration on dynamic, software-centric media infrastructure.

This North American meeting follows the initiative’s launch and first major working session at EBU’s Geneva HQ in late 2025, and aims to deepen participation from organisations across the region.

As the industry continues its shift from static, hardware-centric broadcast facilities toward flexible, software-driven environments, JT-DMF is a focal point for co-creating the architectures, APIs, operational and business foundations needed for this transformation.

What JT-DMF does

JT-DMF is a joint initiative by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) designed to define and accelerate the adoption of the EBU’s Dynamic Media Facilities (DMF) model – media production environments where processing resources and workflows are containerized, instantiated at will, and connected via the open source Media eXchange Layer (DMF).

Since its announcement at IBC 2025 and the kick-off meeting in Geneva in November 2025, JT-DMF has established four primary work tracks and activity groups covering timing, compute resource management, flow connections and business perspectives.

The current focus for JT-DMF is on finalizing the activity group charters and further broadening industry participation to ensure the outputs are globally relevant and implementable.

The New York meeting (10-11 March) is a an important forum for sharing progress, identifying integration points with complementary initiatives, and energising the wider ecosystem around next-generation media facilities.

Registration for the March session is open at the official event page: https://www.amwa.tv/jtdmf/meeting
