The Framework for Interoperable Media Services (FIMS), a joint initiative of the EBU and AMWA, is at NAB in Las Vegas this week to present "FIMS in the Cloud", a set of best practices and approaches for workflows based on interoperable cloud services. This update of FIMS addresses the challenges faced by broadcasters who wish to take their business agility to a new level by unshackling themselves from the physical constraints of bricks and mortar.
Amazon Web Services
Located in the Futures Park at NAB (North Hall, booth N1431FP), the FIMS participants are showcasing developments that use state of the art toolsets provided by Amazon Web Services. Visitors can learn about, and examine, media workflows run entirely in the cloud, including capture, transform, transfer and automatic metadata extraction services. These setups are demonstrated working in conjunction with a content repository based on cloud object storage and a semantic data store.
FIMS also provides and promotes open source APIs, data models and code for the benefit of the industry.
