Next week is Digital Radio Week at the EBU, with a range of events bringing the radio technology community together in Geneva. The Digital Radio Summit, on Wednesday 8 February, will cover the usual broad range of topics and trends. On Monday and Tuesday, however, the focus is specifically on hybrid radio, with the EBU playing host to three events organized by RadioDNS.

The RadioDNS General Meeting (Monday 6 February) will bring together members from across the world to set the strategy for developing hybrid radio in 2017. New members attending for the first time this year will include BMW, iHeartMedia (USA) and RadioPlayer, reflecting the deeper involvement such organizations are taking in leading an open standard for hybrid radio.

New Partnership

The following day, an open Hybrid Radio Seminar will provide an update on the growth of hybrid radio services, the organization's plans for 2017 and the innovative solutions offered by service providers. There will also be an announcement of a new partnership.

In the afternoon, a joint Automotive UX workshop with WorldDAB will focus on improving the experience of using radio in the car, drawing on hybrid radio techniques to improve the user interfaces to broadcast radio in the dashboard.

RadioDNS is a not-for-profit global membership organization promoting hybrid radio. The EBU is a member of RadioDNS and recommends the rollout of hybrid radio services as a key element of the continued success of broadcast radio platforms.
