The “best open source event in Europe” is how many describe the Free Open Source Developers’ European Meeting (FOSDEM), held each year in Brussels.
The event brings together more than 5000 experts from around the world to discuss key topics for software development. An important concept at FOSDEM are the developer rooms (‘devrooms’ to be exact). The ‘devrooms’ offer a place to meet and share ideas on specific themes, as well as, a place to watch/give presentations and collaborate together.
Open media devroom
At FOSDEM 2015, the EBU will co-organize an Open Media ‘devroom’ with the Foundations of Open Media Standards and Software (FOMS) community. If you are interested to present at the Open Media ‘devroom’, the call for presentations is open until 01 December 2014. Please follow the steps on the FOSDEM website. Be sure to select ‘Open Media Devroom’ in the event form.
Encouraging open source activities
The EBU Technology & Innovation team actively encourages Members and organizations to participate in open source experiences to find inter-operable solutions. At IBC 2014, the team organized an open-source meet-up with lightning talks from a range of organizations.
In addition, our Agile Software Collaboration group met for the first time after the 2nd EBU DevCon Conference in October 2014. Our new EBU.IO platform is set up to encourage open source collaboration. In February 2015, we will once again organize the annual RadioHack meeting during EBU Radio Week.
