Products Kaizen

Continuous improvement for PSM product owners and product managers.

Scope

Products Kaizen is the EBU hub for product owners and product managers working on audience-facing digital products for public service media. Broadcasters deliver their content through digital products — websites and apps for mobile, TV, connected cars, and smart speakers. Building these products is cross-disciplinary work where content, technology, design, and an understanding of end-user needs come together. Our group helps participants improve how product work is done, looking first at why it's done, then how, and finally what gets built. We focus on the tactical and operational levels of product practice.

Objectives

We cover skills and methods including feature prioritisation, opportunity selection, product shaping, discovery and vision, solution validation, hypothesis testing, user journeys, and story mapping. Work takes place at three levels: monthly Lean Coffee meetings, quarterly deep-dives led by one or two Members, and a yearly in-person gathering for talks, workshops, and networking. We aim to increase membership, improve attendance at events, and share the group's work at external forums beyond the EBU.

Deliverables

  • Increase membership by 30% (measured by new sign-ups to the workspace)
  • Achieve a 20% higher attendance rate in events in the second half of 2025 compared to the first
