We help Members maintain prominence on connected TV platforms, working on HbbTV, DVB-I, and hybrid broadcast-broadband integration strategies.
Scope
SP Connect brings together the EBU's work on distribution architectures, audience-facing platforms, and connected media ecosystems under a single strategic programme. Our focus is straightforward: public service content must be easy to find, access, and trust, regardless of how audiences choose to receive it. As the media landscape fragments across broadband, broadcast, connected devices, and aggregated platforms, we help Members navigate that complexity together. We share knowledge, assess emerging technologies, and develop common positions that strengthen public service media's presence and reach.
Objectives
We study and assess how media distribution technologies and audience-facing platforms are evolving, and what that means for our Members. We work to ensure PSM content remains prominent and trustworthy across all channels, including broadband, broadcast, and connected devices. We also address audience engagement and personalisation, helping Members make informed decisions about product strategy and technology investment. Our work spans strategic direction, technical guidance, and practical collaboration across the subgroups that sit within this programme.
