In a public sphere littered with disinformation, content provenance tracking can offer orientation to audiences. Content provenance tracking also offers a unique selling point, helping to trustworthy outlets to differentiate themselves.
This working group brings together EBU Members to discuss needs, exchange experiences, and drive the development of workflows capable of supporting and leveraging C2PA technology.
C2PA is a promising technology standard to make content provenance labels a reality. However, the technology needs to be matured, use-cases investigated, details considered and workflows defined.
About C2PA
C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) is a technology designed to establish a transparent, secure, and traceable method for verifying the origins and modifications of digital content. By embedding cryptographic metadata into files, C2PA enables creators to document and preserve a chain of custody that details how, when, and by whom a piece of content was created and altered. This ensures that end-users and platforms can authenticate the content's integrity and authenticity, helping to combat misinformation, deepfakes, and other forms of digital manipulation. The technology is particularly valuable in media, journalism, and social platforms where trust in content is critical.
