Last July the EBU participated in the Libre Software Meeting, an international conference and exhibition on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) that this year took place in Geneva. The event presented lots of examples of how businesses and communities can benefit from working in a more open way. The EBU curated two days of presentations on the use of FOSS for media and broadcasting.
There can be considerable confusion around the use of the word "free" in this context. To address this confusion, and to explain how the FOSS approach differs from the way products have traditionally been developed, we have produced this short video with former EBU deputy technical director, David Wood.
