Attention production infrastructure architects: After two years online, the EBU Network Technology Seminar (NTS) is back and finally open for physical attendance again! Join us this 14-15 of June at EBU HQ in Geneva, for a 2-day programme jam-packed with talks and workshops on IP, cloud and hybrid production technology.
NTS 2022 also kicks off with a new keynote session format featuring 3 C-level industry leaders sharing their vision on the future of media production technologies and the media industry landscape as a whole. To view the full programme and to register, visit the NTS 2022 webpage.
Keynote speakers at NTS 2022
We're very pleased to welcome 3 key personalities in the world of media production technology:
Andrew Cross, CEO, Grass Valley will deliver a talk titled “Where do we go from here?”, a discussion about the most important factors that have driven the changes in media production technology and how they can be used to understand what is coming next.
Thomas Riedel, CEO, RIEDEL Communications will explore the "Challenges and opportunities for public broadcasters with regard to broadcast services".
High staff costs, frozen fees and inflation... the economic pressure on public broadcasters continues to mount up. At the same time, it is getting increasingly difficult to find well-trained staff that meet the demands of state-of-the-art broadcasting technology", says Thomas Riedel. "These challenges, however, also present great opportunities. What do they look like and how do we need to approach public broadcasting and use investments in the spirit of sustainability and innovation? I will offer some thoughts on this and on how technology can open up these opportunities and drive this paradigm shift."
And Troy English, CTO, ROSS Video, will talk about "Overcoming barriers in the transition to virtualization and cloud".
"Cloud technology has already become common for playout and distribution in recent years", says Troy English. "We are now at a point where the benefits that cloud technology can provide are becoming a reality for the production of live content, too. But to truly take advantage of the promise of the cloud, a number of fundamental technological choices must be addressed. I'll be examining these choices and offers some thoughts on how we can all move forward together."
The keynote session is followed by a panel discussion featuring all three keynote speakers and moderated by Hans Hoffmann, EBU T&I Senior Manager, and SMPTE President. This roundtable will explore and discuss the current industry trends and innovations in the areas of media production, hybrid infrastructure, and business challenges associated with them.
