Online media offerings play an increasingly central role for broadcasters. But what makes for an effective technology strategy, and how can media companies make the right technology choices for their online media offerings, in 2021? It's an exciting field full of questions, and one that our BroadThinking 2021 conference will put the focus on next week, 23-24 March.

The event is online, open to the public, and employees of public media organizations can join free of charge. Sign up now!

BroadThinking opens on Tuesday 23 March with a keynote on new gatekeepers and their impact on public media organizations delivering content to Smart TVs, presented by Mathew Horsman and Luke Boyd from Mediatique. Léa Besson from the EBU will provide a general overview of OTT market developments and zoom in on EBU Members.

Reconciling linear TV and SVOD will be the topic of the keynote on day 2, delivered by Danielle Attias, the Secretary General of SALTO, the service that aggregates French broadcasters' content online. This keynote is followed by a panel session on the state of play in online offerings, with RTÉ, NPO, ARD and RTVE discussing their OTT strategies.

Both days start off with a strategic angle and then dive into progressively deeper technology topics, covering everything of relevance to video specialist and distribution managers.

The programme team has aimed to bring together a cross-section of topics that are of particular relevance to public media organization: improving online findability, connected cars, interactive services for Smart TV and other platform deployments, accessibility services, content protection, sustainability, 5G and its future role in media, an up-to-date view of Content Delivery Networks, and many other topics related to improving the quality of online services.
