The annual Production Technology Seminar 2015 is fast approaching. Taking place 27-29 January at the EBU, the event is one of the key places to learn more about what’s on the horizon for broadcasting technology. This year will be no different.

The theme for 2015 will be “producing smarter” and the programme is already taking shape. Many speakers, including our two keynotes, have already confirmed their place.

Robert Amlung, ZDF, will look at how online publishing affects broadcasting workflows and technology in his keynote entitled “Producing smarter in TV” and Thomas Saner, SRG/SSR, will look in more detail at the future of broadcasting architectures based on networks in his keynote.

Other sessions will include a look at technology needs for producing for internet and social media, use cases, going IP and the impact on the production chain and advanced audio and radio production. There will also be a panel discussion on the IP studio: what’s working, what’s not working and what we can expect in the future.

When dealing with workflows and file based operations Chris Fetner from Netflix will explain how IMF is going to help them in the digital supply chain. Presentations on the advancements in FIMS and MXF applications will picture the future of more efficient file based operations.

In more detail, the advanced audio and radio production session will offer a strategic overview, through concrete projects from EBU members to the future of audio and radio services thanks to object-oriented production and immersive audio.

Finally, a comprehensive session on ultra-high definition will analyse the state of the art. For instance, what were the recent developments and findings and where are we heading in the near future with the useful combination of resolution, HDR, HFR and Phase 2 developments.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks to hear more about this year’s programme and register now to save your place!
