Scope
The Metadata Modelling group develops, maintains, and promotes EBUCorePlus as the open-source ontology for the media business. EBUCorePlus provides a fully semantic, interoperable backbone for managing data across the end-to-end media value chain — from commissioning through production, distribution, and archiving. As AI and automation increasingly depend on well-structured, machine-readable metadata, EBUCorePlus gives public service media organisations a shared foundation for data interoperability that is both technically rigorous and practically applicable.
Objectives
We develop EBUCorePlus in response to real requirements from EBU Members, ensuring the ontology stays current with evolving media workflows and technology. We provide documentation, tools, and guidance to help Members implement EBUCorePlus in their systems, and we engage with related standardisation activities to ensure that EBUCorePlus remains aligned with broader media industry developments.
