Walid Sami (EBU)

              

Walid Sami received an Electrical Engineering Degree from the Lebanese University in 1986 and a Doctorate in Physics from Supelec/Université de Paris Sud in 1991. He then joined the Research Centre of TDF (Télédiffusion de France) where he worked on spectrum-sharing studies and frequency planning of Digital Broadcasting systems. In 1998, he joined the CSA (Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel) in Paris where, as head of the Television Planning Department, he was in charge of planning for Digital Terrestrial Television in France. He obtained in 2001 a Master of Business Administration degree from IAE Sorbonne, Paris.

 

In November 2005, Dr. Sami joined the EBU Technical Department as a Senior Engineer to undertake studies and co-ordinate the joint technical activities of EBU Members on subjects related to frequency planning and spectrum-sharing issues. He represents the EBU in a number of international committees, in ITU and CEPT, and is particularly involved since 2007 in studies related to the protection of digital terrestrial broadcasting.
