Roland Beutler (SWR)

              

Dr. Beutler studied Physics at the University Stuttgart, Germany and received a PhD in Mathematical Physics from the Max-Planck-Institute for Metal Physics, Stuttgart. Between 1995 and 1996 he worked at the Università degli Studi di Lecce, Italy, under a Fellowship of the European Commission.

 

In 1993 he joined SWR where he is working in the frequency planning department being responsible for international frequency management issues. He has been participating in EBU Technical activities for more than 10 years where he chaired several EBU groups dealing with the future of radio (S/FOR and S/FB2) and the Strategic Programme on Terrestrial Broadcasting. Currently, he is chairman of the Strategic Programme on Cooperative Terrestrial Networks and the focus team ECS-SDB. Dr. Beutler is also involved in ITU and CEPT work where he was responsible for several groups. He participated in the RRC-06 and was heavily involved in the preparation of this conference. Moreover, he published several articles and three books on frequency and network planning for digital terrestrial broadcasting systems.
