Arild Hellgren (NRK)

              

Arild Hellgren has over 40 years experience in the Broadcasting Industry. He started his career in 1967 in the Department of Development at NRK while completing his education in engineering at the Technological College of Oslo.

 

By 1984 he was the Chief Executive for the Department of Video Planning. In 1992 he became the CEO and Technical Director at ORTO 94, NRK’s division responsible for the Television and Radio broadcasting of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Hellgren led a team of over 1.400 employees in this role, and planned the first large digital operation in the world.

 

After the Olympics he started at NRK Television and was responsible for a full reorganization process. In 1997 Hellgren took on the role as CEO for NRK’s Resources division. In 2002 he joined the EBU Technical Committee and became First Vice Chairman of the Committee in 2006. He was Technical Director at NRK from 2004 to 2011, and from 2011 he has worked as Senior Executive Advisor at NRK.
