Open Archives Roundtable

The COVID-19 crisis has impacted public service media in many ways. Archives, well integrated in the production workflows, have been playing an important part in programme making and continuity.

In this informal roundtable we discussed Archives in a wider context. We looked at the challenges that need to be overcome to allow even more exploitation of content. EBU Members, including the BBC, BR and RAI, shared their experiences in using their archives.

Sharing practices

- What is the current use of archives during the COVID-19 crisis?
- What are the most critical issues faced by EBU Members in opening up their archives for the public?
- Learnings and best practices.

Members for Members

This call was one of several activities to help EBU Members deal with challenges resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. Other resources include:

- The presentations and the summary report from previous roundtables, such as the one on Radio Production;
- Weekly Technical Liaison Officers (TLO) calls to share the latest news on technical issues;
- Dedicated Slack channels to discuss/share technical advice with EBU Member peers 24/7;
- A collection of advice from EBU Members on several topics, beyond technical aspects (e.g. programming, communication)
