The reasons why such measurements may be necessary are discussed in depth, along with the technical prerequisites required before these measurements are made.
Various use cases for measuring DAB network coverage are presented; for each use case the techniques, measuring parameters and requirements are described. Further, the requirements for the measuring equipment and its operation are discussed.
Details about the relevant parameters for DAB are given, along with the results of some measurements that have been made, with a view to identifying a possible method for objective network and reception quality assessment for the DAB system.
The use of the term 'DAB' in this report applies to both DAB and DAB+ systems. Where there is a difference in the impact on network planning and coverage performance between the two systems, this is explained.
