This presentation at the EBU highlighted the International Telecommunication Union's (ITU) efforts in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. Emphasizing AI's potential for good, the ITU developed the "AI for Good" platform to facilitate global AI dialogue and innovation.
As the UN's specialized agency for digital technologies, the ITU collaborates with government, industry, and academia to create international digital standards, ensuring AI's ethical and secure application. Their AI-centric work spans sectors like health, agriculture, natural disaster management, and multimedia authenticity—addressing concerns like deepfakes through partnerships with entities like Adobe and Microsoft.
The ITU also focuses on closing the global AI skills gap, offering initiatives to train underrepresented regions in AI and machine learning.
