France Télévisions is hosting the annual gathering of technology leaders from Europe's public service media community, the EBU Technical Assembly. CTOs and many DGs have gathered in Montpellier for the event, taking place 'in person' for the first time since the COVID pandemic began.
Opened by the Director General of France Télévisions, Delphine Ernotte, and her EBU counterpart Noel Curran, the overarching theme of this year’s event is working together using the latest technologies to target all audiences, with a focus on younger generations. EBU Members are uniquely placed to collaborate on common technical solutions to meet this important challenge. Frédéric Brochard, who is the CTIO of the host broadcaster, chose the topic of AI to illustrate how EBU Members could work together for their collective benefit.
A keynote from Phil Wiser, EVP and CTO of Paramount Global, described how his company applies basic software architecture principles to support its global explosion in content volumes while keeping a focus on local audiences. With 379 linear services delivered around the globe, Paramount Global has relied extensively on cloud infrastructure to underpin the efficient roll-out of services.
The 28th EBU Technical Assembly continues tomorrow.
