This workshop on Live Subtitling was designed share live subtitling experiences and to identify the requirements for a technical specification (format and/or protocol) for the production of live subtitles.
Background
The EBU Group on Subtitles in XML created the EBU-TT part 1 format as the replacement for EBU STL for prepared subtitling. During the work several questions were raised about the format to use for live subtitling. It had become clear that there was a lack of a common production format. The Group intends to address this in EBU-TT part 3.
