At the last MPEG meeting, held in Geneva end of July, EC-M/SCAIE, the technical group concerned with automated information extraction in media production, got their MPEG7 profile proposal accepted as Working Draft. This important piece of work, once completed, will unleash the full potential of automated metadata generation tools by ensuring that interoperable and standard plug-ins can be found on the market.
