Xavier Pouyat (Microsoft)
 | Xavier Pouyat, European Business Development and Strategy Manager in the Microsoft Silverlight Business team (US based), in charge of driving Silverlight and IIS Smooth Streaming adoption. Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform and cross-device plug-in for delivering the next generation of NET-based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. IIS Smooth Streaming enables adaptive streaming of media to Silverlight and other clients over HTTP. It provides a high-quality viewing experience that scales massively on content distribution networks, making true HD 1080p media experiences a reality. Before this role, Xavier Pouyat was in charge of the deployment of HD DVD technologies for Microsoft for the Europe region. These technologies included, for example, the standardized SMPTE VC-1 video codec and the HD DVD interactivity system (HDi). Over the past ten years Xavier Pouyat has been instrumental in deploying Microsoft’s platform for digital rights management, audio/video encoding, Windows Media streaming, next generation of DVD and Digital TV (from mobile broadcasting to High Definition TV); he has also been involved with the development of services and products with leading content providers and the music industry across the region. |
