Abstract

Philips Smart TV

Philips Smart TV aggregates all the connectivity currently enabled by connected TV’s built on four pillars of SimplyShare, Control, Net TV and Program in the vertical broadcast and horizontal in-home domain. Enabling the consumer to easily push or pull their personal content ranging from mobile connected devices (iOS, Android, …), controlling the TV via apps, Catch-up TV, VoD, play games, pause live TV and recording your favourite program. In the vertical domain the consumer is already enabled on Philips TV’s to directly link to Catch-up TV content via the red button to our broadcaster partners, this was launched on 2009 and 2010 Philips TV’s as a pilot together with key broadcast partners like NPO, ARD, ZDF, ARTE, P7S1. With the launch of HbbTV capabilities later this year the full potential in the vertical domain will be disclosed. The two domains currently emerging are going hand-in-hand giving the end consumer freedom of choice which route and content to go to as they are used to in the linear domain. All is based on standards as we strongly believe in sustainable long term standardized solutions going forward based on strong partnerships in this new interconnected world.

The talk will be about Philips Smart TV, red button and partnerships, how they co-exist and benefit from a CloudTV standardized approach!
