Algotorial: Combining editorial curation with personalization algorithms at SVT


The EBU Products Kaizen group invited all EBU Members (employees of public service media in Europe) to the third of three showcases where we look at how we apply personalization in our digital products. This time we’re very happy to have had Swedish broadcaster SVT as guests and speakers.

How can a public service VOD service be relevant to all the people in a country – with all their different backgrounds, needs and preferences? Maybe algotorial personalization can be a step in that direction – combining the editor’s ability to choose content that fits a theme or topic with the power of the personalization algorithms to match the best content for the end user at a given situation.

In this session we learned how SVT is working to empower their VOD service SVT Play with algotorial personalization.
