IBC 2010 - Loud and Clear
30 July 2010

In past years, we have taken the opportunity of the IBC Convention, which takes place in Amsterdam each September, to show EBU Members and the professional broadcast world, some of the work of Members in new technology, and to provide information or demonstrations from EBU Technical on behalf of the Technical Committee.

Media technology innovation

This year once more we will have an 'EBU Village' in Hall 10 on stand 10.D21. We will be able to provide demonstrations or information on a number of areas including ‘1080p/50 production’, 'loudness', ‘3D TV’, ‘open software radio’, ‘access systems for those with disabilities, and other subjects. If you are attending IBC, please visit the EBU Village. If you have any special requests for a company visit, please contact Peter MacAvock (macavock@ebu.ch).

As well as the EBU Village, this year we have two innovations, which we hope you will take full advantage of, if you or your colleagues are visiting IBC.

EBU TECHNICAL Conference Session

The first is a major EBU Session at the Conference. The EBU has been invited by IBC to organize a Conference Session this year, and we have done so. The IBC plans to extend the IBC Convention beyond its previous time length, which ran from Thursday until Monday, to include Tuesday (the 14 September) morning. Our Session is in the 'extension' time on Tuesday morning from 09:30 until 13:00.

If you and/or your staff are coming to IBC, please make plans to attend the session on Tuesday morning. As this is a trial, please note that you will be able to attend with either a Convention ticket OR AN EXHIBITION TICKET. The programme for the Session can be found on the IBC website under Conference Session - Don't touch these issues, they're too hot!: What are the ‘Hot Buttons’ for IBC 2010?

Give your comments on Twitter

The second is a Twitter service, where the EBU colleagues present will add items of news or interest. How does it work? First go to the address http://twitter.com/EBUTECHNICAL, then register as a ‘follower’ of the site. You will not get anything immediately but, during IBC, you will automatically be notified of news or interest items, and you could comment on them if you wish.

We are looking forward to meeting you personally at IBC if your schedule permits.
