Switching off SDTV services at a time when HDTV and UHDTV are becoming dominant, not least in the public's expectations of quality, may save on costs currently associated with SD/HD simulcast, but also through the reduced complexity in production and distribution and an overall greater efficiency in the use of resources such as spectrum. These and other issues are discussed in context of the responses obtained from the Members.
