NAB 2011 saw the first demonstration of a draft specification for a new tool that will help make IT programme production much less problematic.
The FIMS (Framework for Interoperable Media Services) is being developed by an alliance initiated by the EBU and the AMWA. It is hoped to finalize the Specification before the end of summer 2011. FIMS is an interconnection system that will allow different manufactures IT-based programme making equipment to be used in the same 'work flow', and will have a major impact on programme making.
